CBS is the Clemson University student chapter of both the Society For Biomaterials and the Biomedical Engineering Society. The Society For Biomaterials was founded at Clemson University in 1975 and is the leading professional association for bioengineers and other researchers interested in the study of biomaterials. In an effort to foster the close relationship between Clemson University and the Society For Biomaterials, the department strives to send many of its students and faculty to the annual meeting held each spring.
In the spring of 2007, the Clemson Undergraduate Bioengineering Society was formed by students in the newly established undergraduate degree program.

As the official representative of the Clemson University student body, Student Government acts as the liaison between the students and the administration, faculty and staff. As the chief student advocate on campus, Student Government is dedicated to the service of all Clemson students and the enhancement of the Clemson experience.
The GSG of Clemson University is a governing body that represents its graduate student body in an administrative capacity. GSG advocates for graduate students and helps provide services such as student health insurance, student housing, and monetary awards for travel and books.
